Birds of the Philippines
Photos and videos of wild birds found in the Philippines. We travel all over the Philippines to document and take pictures of birds. Our goal is to make this site a resource of information and images about wild birds of the Philippines.
Mt. Kinabalu, Kota Kinabalu, Borneo
Sylvia went to climb up Mt. Kinabalu for a second time. I felt once was enough! I stayed at the base camp area around 5000 feet and got to take some pictures over two days.
We have to go back to Borneo to see and photograph the fantastic birds. 21 species in two days. We should be able to improve some pictures if we get a chance to go back.

Little Pied Flycatcher, immature Ficedula westernmanni size 10cm This is a bird I have seen in the Philippines. I saw it well in Sagada. But never as close as I have seen it in Mt. Kinabalu. I was looking at some movement in the trees when suddenly an adult Little Pied Flycatcher landed 6 inches form my left foot. My camera can't focus that close, I needed a point and shoot. The bird got an insect then flew to a branch to feed this immature bird. I would not have been able to ID this bird otherwise because it looks so different from the Black and White colors of its dad.
