Birds of the Philippines
Photos and videos of wild birds found in the Philippines. We travel all over the Philippines to document and take pictures of birds. Our goal is to make this site a resource of information and images about wild birds of the Philippines.
Mt. Kinabalu, Kota Kinabalu, Borneo
We have to go back to Borneo to see and photograph the fantastic birds. 21 species in two days. We should be able to improve some pictures if we get a chance to go back.
Chestnut-crested Yuhina Yuhina everetti This has got to be the ETS of Mt. Kinabalu. I would see this bird in pairs or in flocks of 6 or more. They are very active and sometimes they are not shy at all. I heard them all over, tweeting and calling while eating. It is a Borneo endemic. Its a small bird that is very easy to ID because of the chestnut color of the head and the Elvis hairstyle. The scientific name of this bird is Yuhina everetti, named after Alfred Hart Everett (1848-1898). He collected lots of species of animals in Asia including the Philippines. Among the birds named after him we have one in the Philippines, the Everett's White-eye.
