Blue Tailed Bee Eater
BLUE TAILED BEE EATER
Merops philippinus
Meropidae Family
Bird #70 - November 2008
This is a resident bird that is found throughout the Philippines. It is fairly common and measures 11 1/2 inches long. It is relatively easy to spot since it is brightly colored, perches on open branches or wires and calls out while flying out to catch insects, usually returning to the same spot to eat the insect.
I first saw this in Montecito, Laguna. Tonji later saw it in Candaba.
