The Cinnamon Bittern is a common resident bird. It is about 19 1/2" long. It is usually found in wetlands such as rice fields and mangroves. It is the only small bittern with all cinnamon rufous wings. Even the streaked immature birds have all cinnamon rufous wings. The males have a upperparts that are cinnamon rufous, the females have upperparts that are mostly dark brown. Cinnamon Bitterns have buffy white throats, dark brown and cinnamon mesial streak, and white patch at sides of neck below the ear.
We first saw this bird in Candaba, Pampanga. It is also found in UP, at Hardin ng Rosas.
