This is a noisy and common bird found in forest edges, second growth, and lowlands.
The first time we saw this bird wasat the Montemar Beach Resort in Bagac, Bataan. There was a small flock of these birds gathered on a fruiting palm tree along with Lowland White Eyes and Yellow Vented Bulbuls. The tree was visible from my balcony, and on the first day, the sun was shining brightly on them, highlighting the red portion of their throats and chest! I MISTAKENLY decided NOT to bring my camera. Sadness. I managed to make a positive id by drawing the bird. Good thing I brought my Kennedy guide!
