Philippine Bush-Warbler
PHILIPPINE BUSH WARBLER
Horonis seebohmi
Family Cettidae
Bird #229 - January 2010
This is called Luzon Bush-Warbler Cettia seebohmi in the Kennedy guide. This is a common endemic found in the Cordillera mountains of northwest Luzon. It is about 4 1/2" long. There were a lot of these birds in the grounds around our hotel in Sagada, The Rock Inn. They would stay near the ground, inside the thick scrubby plants. We could hear them calling out the whole day, but it was hard to get a good look unless one of them suddenly popped out of the bushes.
I was pleased that when I first saw this bird, the name Bush-Warbler suddenly and inexplicably came to mind!
We saw these birds again on our trip to Mt. Polis is 2012, 2013 and in Bessang Pass in 2013.
They are quite vocal and active.
