This is an uncommon bird that is found in the forest and edge canopy. It is about 6 1/2 inches long. It is resident bird. We saw this bird in Makiling. It was quite a distance away perched on a giant Ipil-Ipil type tree. Its quite small compared to the other cuckoos and has the very vivid violet color and orange beak.
