Scarlet Minivet
SCARLET MINIVET
Pericrocotus flammeus
Campephagidae Family
Bird #251 - September 2010
We first saw this bird in Rajah Sikatuna Park in Bilar, Bohol. This bird is a common resident, measures 7", and usually flies in flocks. We got distracted when this bird showed up because there was an Asian Fairy Bluebird that flew by and a bird that we thought was an Asian Fairy Bluebird perched on the tree. So, we ended up taking really bad and blurry pictures of this bird. We also saw this in Doi Inthanon Park in Thailand.
We saw this bird again in PICOP, Bislig. In the Kennedy guide it says that "species is quite variable ... male ranging from orange and black to yellow and black".
