Eurasian Teal
EURASIAN TEAL
Anas crecca
Anatidae Family
Bird #277 - December 2010
Formerly known as Green-winged Teal in the Kennedy Guide. The Eurasian Teal is a small migrant duck. When we first saw it in December 2010, we were not so sure yet the id of the bird. It was quite far away and only the female was visible. We were looking at some Philippine Ducks at the time when we noticed a "different" looking bird. When we inquired about the id, some thought it might be a Gadwall. We saw the a Eurasian Teal again in February 2011. This time there were 2 distinctive looking males. We saw it again in Batanes in October 2011 and in Pagudpud in December 2011.
