Birds of the Philippines
Photos and videos of wild birds found in the Philippines. We travel all over the Philippines to document and take pictures of birds. Our goal is to make this site a resource of information and images about wild birds of the Philippines.
Peregrine Falcon
PEREGRINE FALCON
Falco severus
Falconidae Family
Bird #66 - November 2008
A member of the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines posted about the location of this bird. We promptly drove to Filinvest at 6am the next day and saw this on the Asian Star Building. We were convinced that we should get a scope after taking these photos! The bird was so high up, around at the 8th floor. Too bad the Filinvest security guards started harassing us and telling us that we were not allowed to take ANY photographs in Filinvest!
There is a series of shots in this gallery showing an aerial food pass between two Peregrine Falcons. According to The Encyclopedia of Birds by Christopher Perrins it is common among harriers to do an aerial food pass where instead of giving the food to the female at the nest, the the flying male drops food in midair and the female flies up to him, turns upside down and catches the prey dropped by the male.
