Asian Brown Flycatcher
ASIAN BROWN FLYCATCHER
Muscicapa dauurica
Family Muscicapidae
Bird # 355
L 128 mm (5")
rare migrant
This bird looks similar to the more common Grey-streaked Flycatcher, except that it has an unstreaked chest and white lores and eyering. It also has a two-colored bill. The upper mandible is black and the lower mandible is yellowish.
Like other flycatchers, the Asian Brown Flycatcher also has the habit of flying for a short distance to hawk insects and then returning to the same perch. We saw what was most likely the same individual in the same area on two different days.
