Birds of the Philippines
Photos and videos of wild birds found in the Philippines. We travel all over the Philippines to document and take pictures of birds. Our goal is to make this site a resource of information and images about wild birds of the Philippines.
Ferruginous Flycatcher
FERRUGINOUS FLYCATCHER
Muscicapa ferruginea
Bird # 261 - October 2010
Our first view of this bird was in the house of THE Romy Ocon in 2010. It is a migrant that is rarely seen in the Philippines, and it decided to drop by Romy's house. Amazing. Even more amazing that we managed to "invite" ourselves over, thanks to Tina!
It is 5" long and is described in the Kennedy guide as "not shy". It is normally seen at high elevations and in forests. It was a treat to see it a few minutes away from our house. We suppose that it was blown in by the super typhoon Juan which was blowing at the northern parts of the country that day.
This bird is an immature.
We got to see two more of these birds in Laguna in 2012.
