Little Pied Flycatcher
LITTLE PIED FLYCATCHER
Ficedula westermanni
Muscicapidae Family
BIrd #106 - January 2009
We first saw this bird in Mt. Kitanglad Bukidnon.
The next time we saw it was in Sagada. It is a fairly common, resident bird. It is small, 4 1/2 inches but very distinctive looking. The Kennedy guide states that this bird "prefers montane forest" and so it was one of our target birds during our Mountain Province trip. We saw it on a tree right in front of the hotel we were staying in, The Rock Inn.
