Mangrove Blue Flycatcher
MANGROVE BLUE FLYCATCHER
Cyornis rufigastra
Muscicapidae Family
Bird #164 - May 2009
Tonji and I had an argument over this bird!! He spotted it by the side of the road, but didn't know what it was, and he wanted to look for it. I wanted to go to where Tina was, because she was at a nest of a Mangrove Blue Flycatcher. Turns out that the bird Tonji spotted was also a Mangrove Blue Flycatcher.
The bird would perch on a nearby tree before flying into a small cave-like opening on the mountain-side where its nest was. There were also Pied Bushchats nearby that would occasionally harass the Mangrove Blue Flycatcher. It looked like it was trying to prevent the Mangrove Blue Flycatcher from going to its nest.
This is a Philippine resident.
