This endemic Flycatcher looks similar to two rare migrant flycatchers -- Asian Brown and Dark-sided. The Ashy-breasted Flycatcher has a "short rounded wing that extends just beyond the base of the tail" and a light brownish grey throat and breast. The Asian Brown has a whiter throat and longer wings. The Dark-sided has a mottled greyish and white throat and breast.
