This is called Tarictic Hornbill in the Kennedy guide. This bird is listed as endangered in the IUCN Red List due to its "very small, severely fragmented population which is undergoing a very rapid continuing decline as a result of lowland deforestation and hunting". It is only found in a few, limited areas in the Visayas. Like other hornbills, it requires big, mature trees to be able to nest. The last population survey was in 2001 and BirdLife estimated the population at 1,800 individuals. Their current estimate of the population is less than 1,000 individuals.
It looks similar to the Luzon and Mindanao Hornbills, except that it has rufous underparts instead of white underparts.
