Birds of the Philippines
Photos and videos of wild birds found in the Philippines. We travel all over the Philippines to document and take pictures of birds. Our goal is to make this site a resource of information and images about wild birds of the Philippines.
Crested Honey Buzzard
CRESTED HONEY BUZZARD
Pernis ptilorhynchus
Accipitridae Family
Length 585mm (23") Wingspan 1090 (43")
Resident/ Migrant- Common
Bird #73 - November 2008
This is called Oriental Honeybuzzard in the Kennedy guide. Tonji saw this bird in Puerto Galera. We both also saw it in Mt. Kitanglad, Bukidnon when we went there to look at the Philippine Eagle. It has a long neck. When we saw it first it was a lone bird. But in another sighting we saw 6 birds flying together.
On our second trip to Kitanglad we were able to get better pictures of this bird. It was flying low and was gliding just over us.
