Birds of the Philippines
Photos and videos of wild birds found in the Philippines. We travel all over the Philippines to document and take pictures of birds. Our goal is to make this site a resource of information and images about wild birds of the Philippines.
Blue Paradise Flycatcher
BLUE PARADISE FLYCATCHER
Terpsiphone cyanescens
Monarchidae Family
uncommon, endemic
L 216 mm (8 1/2")
Bird #208 - August 2009
This bird is an uncommon and near-threatened Philippine endemic. It is found in Palawan. It's range is Bantac, Batas, Busuanga, Coron, Culiom Limapacan, Palawan, Tangat and Tara.
It has a large head and large blue bill. The female has a white lower belly and dark grey brown back, rump, and tail.
The first time we saw this bird, we initially identified it as the much more common Black Naped Monarch which we had already seen many times before. This bird is notable for being our lifer via email after Desmond Allen informed us that we misidentified the pictures.
