endemic, rare

This is described in the Kennedy guide as "rare on large islands, fairly common on small ones like Camiguin Norte and Dinagat". Most birdwatchers go to PICOP to see this bird. Adult males have a crest, blue eye ring, and black mask. It is described in A Guide to the Birds of the Philippines as "Superb!".
