This bird is an accidental migrant. It is not usually found in the Philippines. This is the 4th time it was recorded in the Philippines.
We went to see the bird after it was reported. Our first views of it were very distant from the mudflats. It was low tide and we couldn't get closer. I sank in the mud in an attempt to get closer. We later moved to the Dampalit bike trail and got better views from there.
