on July 17, 2009Hi Angela, the pet trade is certainly a big threat to our wildlife. It illegal to hunt or capture wild birds, but people STILL do it without thought to the destruction they cause. The vendors would probably claim they were captive-bred, but that's probably not so.
These birds are really cute and sociable, but they're better off in the wild. It's really amazing to see them flying and behaving naturally in the wild. I hope people will stop buying wild birds so the trade in wild birds STOPS.

on July 16, 2009Hi, I went to Aranque market a few weeks ago and I'm pretty sure I saw some six of these guys being sold for 2.5K each. Pretty tame. I am not sure if they were captive bred.
