Common Emerald Dove
COMMON EMERALD DOVE
Chalcophaps indica
Columidae Family
Bird #180 - June 2009
This Dove is 10" long. It is easy to ID because of the green wings and the silver head. The head color is very striking and can be seen when in flight. We first saw small groups of Common Emerald Doves for the first time in Sabang, Palawan. They would fly by so quickly that it was very difficult to take their picture. Eventually we saw this birds all over the country with more memorable encounters in Mindoro and Luzon. It is usually a shy bird.
