This bird is found along the coast and on offshore islands in mangrove and lowland forest. It is easily recognized by its distinctive black and white plumage.
Many birders travel from Puerto Princesa to Pandan Island to see this bird, along with the Grey Imperial Pigeon and Mantanani Scops Owl.
