Birds of the Philippines
Photos and videos of wild birds found in the Philippines. We travel all over the Philippines to document and take pictures of birds. Our goal is to make this site a resource of information and images about wild birds of the Philippines.
Clamorous Reed Warbler
CLAMOROUS REED WARBLER
Acrocephalus stentoreus
Sylviidae Family
Bird #118 - February 2009
We first saw this bird during a WBCP trip. There were two tv crews filming segments about bird watching. The folks from "Born to Be Wild" and Dave Celdran and his crew. This bird watching is getting to be an "in" thing .. at least among tv shows! It was also the birthday celebration of Ixi. Her daughter Mikeli prepared a lot of food for us! We also brought our own food for a nice pot luck lunch.
There were a LOT of people in Candaba that day. Not that conducive for bird watching. We have become so used to being the only people around doing bird watching. The Great Candaba Bamboo Wall that the folks there put up is very disturbing! It looks terrible. It's a giant wall of bamboo with cut out sqaure "windows" every few feet. Tonji says he doesn't want to go back to Candaba.
We saw this in the field, among some reeds (or at least reedy-looking plants). Later, when we were hanging out in the garden of the Mayor's house, we got a better view of this bird. It perched on a palm tree in the garden.
