Photos and videos of wild birds found in the Philippines. We travel all over the Philippines to document and take pictures of birds. Our goal is to make this site a resource of information and images about wild birds of the Philippines.
Black-tailed Godwit
BLACK-TAILED GODWIT
Limosa limosa
Family Scolopacidae
L 381 mm (15 1/2")
rare, migrant
Bird # 386 - January 2013
We visited the mudflats in Tibsoc to see the flocks of Black-tailed Godwits. According to Arne Jensen, "This area stands out as the only known locality in the Philippines that host extra-ordinary high numbers of the globally near-threatened Black-tailed Godwit and of the threatened Great Knot."
The Black-tailed Godwit can be told apart from the more common Bar-tailed Godwit by its two-toned bill, straight bill. The Bar-tailed Godwit has an upturned bill.
*note: number is out of sequence for this bird!
