Apo Myna

APO MYNA
Basilornis miranda
Sturnidae Family

endemic, common
L 330 mm (13")

Bird #117 - January 2009

This is a Mindanao montane endemic. We had great views of this bird in Mt. Kitanglad, Bukidnon. There were 3 of them on a nearby tree on our way up to look at the Apo Sunbird. It was in the same area where we saw the Philippine Eagle soaring and circling. This bird has a very unique crest of long wispy feathers.
