Bird #520 - January 2019
This species was first recorded in the Philippines in May 2009. There was First record of one sub-adult bird at South Islet, Tubbataha Reefs, Palawan seen by Arne Jensen and Timothy Fisher. It was later seen in Palawan and Panay. This is the 4th time it is recorded in the Philippines. This individual was reported by Mark Ghee and Mags Ico.
We went to the site by the Marikina River in Montalban with Robert Hutchinson to look for the bird. Tonji saw it briefly on a tree and then on the ground in a sandy area. Later Rob saw it flying with a group of Crested Mynas. The group circled around then landed on a tree. We were able to get good views of it on the tree. The group flew off and did not return.
