These birds were once lumped together as Plain Throated Sunbird they occur throughout the Philippines. The ones from Luzon and Mindoro southeast through Samar and Leyte to Eastern Mindanao have been split into the Grey Throated Sunbird while the ones in the the western parts of country with brown throats are now called Brown Throated Sunbird.
