This is a Philippine endemic. It is small, measuring only about 3 3/4" long. It has a metallic violet forehead, metallic green wings, olive green back and bright yellow breast with a small orange patch. Like other sunbirds, it flies around very quickly.
There is a proposal by Hosner, Nyári & Moyle to treat two the two races as separate species. The proposed names would be as follows:
Aethopyga (pulcherrima) jeffreyi Luzon Sunbird
Aethopyga (pulcherrima) decorosa Bohol Sunbird
