We first saw this bird while white water rafting down the Cagayan River in Cagayan de Oro with our son. We were quite excited to see this pretty and colorful bird perched on a wire and made many attempts to take photographs so we could id it. There were also a lot of swifts near the walls and little caves along the river, but we couldn't id those. We saw it again when we went birding in Caylabne. We learned that it is a common bird, usually found near water.
