We first saw this bird in Caylabne. It is usually found in fields. When we first saw it however, it was perched on a tree near the clubhouse.
It is a common bird. It has the same size as the Chestnut Munia and the White-bellied Munia, 4 1/2".
This species gets its name from the scaly pattern of the underparts. Since our first encounter we have seen this bird in many other parts of the Philippines.
