Bird # 393 - January 2013
This bird is only found in the Visayas and Mindanao. There are 3 races: homeyeri found in the Mindanao area, major in Cebu, and winchelli in Gigantes, Masbate, Negros, pan de Azucar, Panay, Sibuyan, Tablas, and Ticao. We saw this bird in Mt. Kanlaon and Alcoy.
It looks similar to the White-throated Jungle Flycatcher. According to the Kennedy guide, "it is found in all levels of the forest from the lowlands up to over 2000m, singly, in pairs, or in mixed flocks."
