Yellowish White-Eye
YELLOWISH WHITE-EYE
Zosterops nigrorum
Zosteropidae Family
L108 - 120 mm (41/2 - 4 3/4")
endemic, common
Bird #160 - May 2009
This is a common bird that travels in flocks. They are also sometimes seen in mixed flocks. In Banaue, we saw them in a mixed flock with Blue-headed Fantail and Elegant Tit. The Yellowish White-eye are yellow all over while the other White-eye species have white bellies.
The first time we saw this bird was in the Sierra Madre. They were very common in the Sierra Madre. Tina Mallari told us that the White-Eyes in that area were Yellowish White-Eyes. Otherwise, we would have probably assumed that they were Lowland White-Eyes.
