Green Crested Lizard Bronchocela cristatella This is known as the "chameleon of the Philippines". The local name for it is hunyango. Like chameleons, they change their color by opening and closing their cells called melanophores. I am told that this is the most common and widespread lizard in the Philippines. I don't know if that includes house lizards. This lizard shows that it is threatened by the reddish-brown color, stiffened tail, and extended dewlap. Usually, the legs are also the same color.
